In October of 1994, Mosaic Communications Corporation (renamed "Netscape Communications" on 11 November 1994) introduced the first public beta of their browser, "Mosaic NetScape." Those interested in this era will note that many of the web pages, images, and other artifacts dating from this time have been lost because of the ever-changing nature of the Internet. In fact, older versions of the Netscape browser itself are becoming increasingly endangered, particularly the pre-release betas predating version 1.0.
"Origin of a Browser" is a project dedicated to web archaeology - the study and preservation of rapidly disappearing artifacts associated with the Early Netscape Period. Hosting provided by HostGatorDiscounts.org
